The next tournament is HERE at GENOA MIDDLE SCHOOL. We will have the Registration forms with all the information on the counter soon. Also, see our Tournament page for more details. Please plan on attending. Tournaments are for all belt levels and competitors are divided by age and rank. White through Sr. Orange belts will do their pattern and one steps. Green belts and above will perform their pattern and spar. While awards will be given to competitors who place first, second or third, participation awards are given to all students that do not place. After all, everyone who competes IS a winner!
March 21st& 22nd - Wednesday & Thursday
Bully Buster Buddy Day
This is a unique kind of buddy day. On Wednesday, March 21st, we will be having a buddy day with a particular focus on Bully prevention and how to physically deal with a bully once you believe you are in danger of being hurt. Bring your friends with you to your class time. Due to the nature of this seminar, parents of any visiting students must be in attendance so they can hear exactly what Mr. Due says so there is no miscommunitcation. (Parents of current students don't have to be here because you have heard it before and know where I stand.)
Special Announcements and Things to Remember
Schedule Change
After testing, we are changing the schedule slightly at the Westerville location. It only effects the Brown or Sr. Brown belts. So please take a look at it.
Snow Policy
If there is snow, sleet or other nasty stuff on the roads, go to the facebook page at Facebook.com/westervilletkd, Facebook.com/Sunburytkd or the front page of the web site at MrDue.com after 3:00 p.m. to find out if we have classes. If there is snow on the ground on a Saturday morning, the decision will posted after 9:00 a.m. All instructors will be notified via e-mail immediately after the decision is made.
Put your NAMES IN YOU COATS.
One black coat looks like any other black coat. And kids, in their haste, have been taking the wrong coat home. Make sure you put your name in your child's coat so if there is a "switch" we can get it back to you.
Wait INSIDE the school
If you are waiting for class or for your parents to pick you up, you must BE INSIDE the school. You may not wait or play outside. The staff can not see you or supervise anyone outside the building. So if we catch you outside when you are supposed to be inside, you owe me some push ups.

The Black Belt Conference is for more than just the instructors. It is for all Black Belts 12 years old and older. While there are seminars for the instructors, there will an increased number of workouts and seminars designed for the students. Think of it as Black Belt camp in a hotel! Better food, better rooms, better workouts. People needing to obtain their Jr. or Sr. Certification must attend the event and there will be a high rank testing on Thursday evening.
June 6th, 7th & 8th - Testing
June 25th - 29th - Summer Day Camp
This camp will be held at the Sunbury location and is geared for our students that are not old enough or have the rank to go to the Summer Camp at Urbana University. Students must be 10 years old or younger to participate. Kids will be dropped off in the morning with a bagged lunch, and will be picked up in the evening. During the day, there will be some martial arts workouts similar to what will be taught at the regional camp. But there will be a lot of time dedicated to just playing and doing fun activities. The highlight of camp, of course, is decorating and individualizing their T-shirt.
July 20th, 21st & 22nd - Summer Camp - Urbana University
Taekwondo Camp. Actually, I should call it “Taekwondo Hang Out, Work Out and Have a Blast with other students Super Event of the Year.” Yes, we do a lot of taekwondo at camp; however, we do other things as well. Depending on the year, we explore Jiu-Jitsu, boxing, Aikido, or even weapons. For the money, it is the best martial arts experience you can ever have. But as good as that is, the best fun is the flashlight tag, sleeping bag races and other nonsense that happens there too. It is camp. A place where a kid or teenager can get away from mom and dad and live on their own, under proper supervision, and discover just how independent they can be. That kind of adventure is fun! If you don’t believe me, ask any kid that has gone. They all want to go back! So if you are even thinking about going, now is the time to sign up!
Our regional summer camp is scheduled for July 20th, 21st & 22nd at Urbana University here in OHIO. Less than 2 hours away. Black Belts 8 and older can attend as can all Green Belts 10 and older. The cost for the camp will be $250 which includes all meals and lodging.
The Deadline for registering is JUNE 30th.
For more information about camp including parents most asked questions, see out Camp web page.
August 4th - Summer Picnic - McNamara Park, Genoa Township

When you come to the picnic, make sure you bring your own drinks, lawn chairs and squirt guns. It will be a blast. During the Picnic, we have the largest Water Gun war in town. MAKE SURE TO BRING SOME WATER TO RELOAD. Lastly, this is not a drop off event. Parents must attend with their under age children since we will not provide supervision.
